The 2012 Farnborough Airshow was held 9–15 July at the Farnborough Aerodrome in Hampshire, UK. AOS Inc’s Director of North American Operations, Andy Park, represented the company on the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) stand in the ADS Innovation Zone, a new site sponsored by Airbus.
During the show, AOS was pleased to announce its contract from Lockheed Martin on the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter programme. As the F-35 takes on a larger ISR role in future upgrades, a management Rational Information Broker (RIB) will enhance interoperability between the F-35 platform and network centric infrastructure such as the Global Information Grid. AOS is now developing a RIB demonstrator based on the company’s C++ based reasoning system, C-BDI.
Also debuting at the TSB stand was the ASTRAEA programme’s new brochure, sub-titled “Opening the airspace for UAS”. This was a fitting venue for this updated overview of ASTRAEA’s achievements as the TSB co-funds the programme and AOS is one of its seven industry partners.
While this year’s airshow was plagued by inclement weather, visitation at the Innovation Zone was fairly brisk early in the week, especially on the Tuesday when David Willets, MP, UK Minister for Universities and Skills, officially opened the site then toured the exhibits and demonstrations.
AOS would like to thank the Technology Strategy Board for their kind invitation to participate in this inaugural networking exhibition.
