This year’s AUVSI (Autonomous Unmanned Vehicle Systems
International) Unmanned Systems North America conference was held last week
(10-13 August) at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
Concurrent with the conference was the launch of AUVS –
Australia, an official affiliate of the international organization. Dr K.C. Wong,
the new chairman, said “This is a significant step in establishing an
accredited and functional association whereby the unmanned systems industry in
Australia can be appropriately represented.”
AOS was delighted with the opportunity to be one of the 13
founding members of AUVS – Australia. The group was a cross-section of
Australian government, industry and academia that included BAE Systems, Boeing
Defence, CSIRO and the University of Sydney (see press release for
complete list).
Andy Park, AOS US, represented the company at the Unmanned
Systems conference and reported that interest in the new Australian affiliate
was keen and their information stand, manned by Reece Clothier and Rod Walker,
was very well attended.
